Friday Linkups: Tribute
It's Friday linkup time! I'm linking up with the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer, Book Beginnings of Fridays hosted by Rose City Reader, and the Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice.
This Week's Book Blogger Hop Question:
Do you pre-schedule your posts?
My Answer:
I do but I definitely need to get better about it. Right now I normally write for the next day but my goal is to build up about 2 weeks of posts.
This week's book is another book I got from the library awhile ago when I was wandering the shelves. It's a reread but it's been so long since I read it the first time it kind of is like reading it the first time again. The Lifetime movie of this one starring Brittany Murphy came on a couple of weeks ago so I'm planning on watching that when I finish the book.
The Beginning:
"According to legend, Steve McQueen once swam buck-naked among the cattails and lily pads in the pond at the Little Farm. If true, and Cilla liked to think it was, the King of Cool had stripped off and dived in post The Magnificent Seven and prior to The Great Escape."
My Thoughts:
I love the beginning. It sets the tone right from the beginning and the image of Steve McQueen skinny dipping in a pond is pretty funny.
The 56:
"But you didn't, Cilla thought as she stared at the soft sunlight sliding through the windows. You didn't get by."
My Thoughts:
Cilla is trying to figure out her very famous grandmother that she never met and put together the pieces of what happened at the very end of the woman's life. Cilla's starting to realize that it might not be as clear as she originally thought.
So what do you think? Keep reading?
Yes, I'd keep reading. I like a lot of Nora Roberts' books. Haven't read all that many of her standalone novels though. Have you read Montana Sky? I loved that one many years ago. I also haven't watched many of the TV movie adaptations - maybe one or two.
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember getting that one from the library and reading it. I liked it.
ReplyDeleteI try to pre-schedule posts, but honestly I suck at it. :D
I enjoyed this one a while ago...and then loved the Lifetime movie based on the book. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI want my holiday reads pre-schedule. I would like to have a 3 month buffer. My Hop
ReplyDeleteHi Katherine,
ReplyDeleteI always have a mountain of posts in my 'draft' box, but when it comes down to it, I am still scrabbling to get a finalised post together and good enough to publish, at the eleventh hour!
I probably wouldn't keep reading if I only had those first lines as a reference point, as they make this story sound like more of a memoir than anything else. However, having checked out the synopsis as well, I an now see where the storyline is headed and I would probably be quite happy to pick this up if the opportunity arose.
Nora Roberts isn't an author I could read on too regular a basis, as I am not a huge fan of her style of writing, but in the right time and place, her books make a welcome change from the norm.
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend :)
Yvonne
I love that opening! Not only do I like the image of Steve McQueen skinny dipping, but I like the way the author uses that incident to tell us a little bit about Cilla ("...and I liked to think it was...") This sounds like another winner from Nora Roberts.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features Widow’s Tears.
I haven't read Nora Roberts in forever. This one sounds good. Please check out mine ... http://tinyurl.com/LisaKsBookReviews
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks ahead is good.
ReplyDeleteI have my blog hop posts done until the last listed question in July. My other weekly memes are started once the current one is posted. Reviews are done immediately and pre-scheduled.
Happy Hopping!!

I've heard a lot of good things about Nora Roberts, but I haven't read any of her books yet.
ReplyDeleteNora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, I need to at this one to my TBR! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes preschedule posts because I have time on a certain day and am in the zone. It's been awhile since I've read her, the last being the witch trilogy. I do like her. She must have so much fun researching professions and talking to professionals in that field. I've read any of her books in the past. Chasing Fire is one of my favorites of hers. Those men and women who jump into forest fires are so brave. I like the book about the rescue dog trainers too.
ReplyDeleteWonder if the Steve McQueen thing is true?
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
I like Nora Roberts but haven't read this one, so I need to check it out. :)

I don't pre-schedule, but I probably should! And what a great beginning!
ReplyDeleteI love revisiting books and you are right, if it's been a while it does feel like reading it for the first time. I hope you enjoy the reread!
ReplyDeleteGod, I wish I was one to schedule posts weeks in advance. I'm lucky to get more than one pre-scheduled.
ReplyDeleteWe can do it, Katherine! We'll get better at this organizing thing.... :P
Happy reading!
Brittany @ This is the Story of My(Reading) Life
I pre-schedule some but not as many as I'd like. LOL
ReplyDeleteI loved this book and the movie too!

I'm a crazy pre-scheduler. I used to do my posts the day before or hours before they needed to go up but now that's the rare post. Happens sometimes but not too often.
ReplyDeleteI need to give Roberts a try again. I love her Robb ones :D
That sounds interesting, yes I'd keep reading too.
ReplyDeleteI'm only a day ahead with my pre-scheduling too, I need to improve on that as well.
Have a great week.
Sharon @ Sharon's Book Nook!
I do pre-schedule my posts--I wouldn't be able to post if I didn't! But I'm usually a week ahead of myself. If I'm lucky, I'm two weeks ahead, but that doesn't happen very often.
ReplyDeleteI like the opening and teaser you shared.
