It's Sunday Post time! This is hosted by the awesome Caffeinated Book Reviewer and gives us all a chance to recap our week.
What I Got:
It was a fairly quiet week around here bookwise I only got 2 though I have ordered a few that haven't arrived yet.
Browings: A Year of Reading, Collecting, and Living with Books by Michael Dirda - While I haven't read any of his previous work I'm looking forward to this book of essays and lists about books! (Edelweiss)
A Batter of Life and Death by Ellie Alexander - I'm so excited to be part of this blog tour this summer! I absolutely adored the first book in the series and can't wait to see where it goes next. Plus, I'm really looking forward to spending more time in the kitchen with Jules and her mother. (Publisher)
Cookie Love by Mindy Segal - This looks ridiculously yummy! I can't wait to start cooking from it! (Blogging for Books)

Currently:
Reading: Hypberole and a Half by Allie Brosh, Corpse with the Sapphire Eyes by Cathy Ace for a blog tour later this week. I'm also reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens which I expect to be reading for the rest of my life. I love the writing but the story is dragging a bit for me. Pip is seriously whiny!
Listening: When You are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris. I'm not sure I should be listening to this while driving because I keep breaking into fits of laughter!
Watching: Stalker which finally came back on Monday! I was worried that they were going to end the season with a cliffhanger since the show looks iffy for being renewed. Luckily they've resolved that particular issue though they may still end us on a cliffhanger in the next few weeks. J and I have been watching The Following which has had a potentially interesting plot twist. We loved the first season but haven't been overly impressed with the 2nd and 3rd but it's all of a sudden gotten interesting. Also, The Spring Bake Off on Food Network. I'm having fun watching this partly because I love any and all cooking competitions and partly because I got to meet Bobby Dean and his brother Jamie a few weeks ago so it's extra fun.
Off the Blog:
If you're reading this I'm hoping that means we've survived prom season for yet another year. Emma and Paul's prom was last night (well actually tonight since I'm writing this Saturday morning). This is the first year we've had both going and the first year I've had to do any of the behind the scenes from the boy's side! When it came down to renting a tux or getting a corsage I knew nothing. Everything seems to have been accomplished and at this point all we have to do is pictures which will involve some divide and conquering on J and my parts.
Paul is up top with his date and Emma is in the blue dress in the lower picture. The girl in pink is best friend and soon-to-be college roommate. I will subject you to better pictures next week. Now I'm in the waiting up portion of the evening.

Browsings looks good, and I've been intrigued by Hyperbole which I've heard good thing about. Nice pics, hope the prom was great for the kids and not too stressful for the parents! :) Have a great weekend and week ahead.

ReplyDeleteBrowsings looks good to me because it is about my favorite subject, obviously :) I could just read lists of books and be content. I haven't read a Sedaris book but my eldest enjoyed a couple of his. A Batter of Life and Death sounds cute. Glad you liked the first one.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear about Stalker! I wondered where the heck it was off to. Did you know that the two main stars are engaged IRL? I tried a few episodes of The Following but found it so gruesome, hmm, not sure if I would continue at this point.
Good that you survived Prom Night! I didn't go to mine and have regretted it ever since-- a rite of passage I missed out on. Oh well. Nice pics of your kids :)
Love the prom pics!
ReplyDeleteStalker has only just started here in Australia but I decided against watching it as I knew that it might not have been going to be renewed. Popular stuff we get pretty much the same time as the US but other programs often start after they've already been axed overseas!!! Grrrr....
Although, at least we're forewarned!
I'm glad prom is over and everything went well, nice pics ! Enjoy Browsings, I guess it's a book that speaks to all book bloggers ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kids! My oldest is going into high school next year so it's on the horizon for us. So impressed you blog every day! Wish I could do that consistently. The Browsings book looks good. You cant go wrong with a book about books :) i just picked up The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry and can't wait to read it. Stopping by from Sunday Post and hope you will linkup with our Small Victories Sunday linkup too.
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty prom pictures! I hope the kids had lots of fun. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like fun! Mom and Dad deserve a prom too!

Michael Dirda is always a good choice! The prom pictures almost make me wish mine were back in high school... hope your kids had a great time!
ReplyDeleteAwh love the prom pics mine was near 10 years ago I feel old. Love your daughters dress. I love cooking shows as well :)

Emma and Paul look lovely. We are enjoying the Following. You have me craving a cookie and I must look up the book Cookie Love. Enjoy your week my friend!
ReplyDeleteAwww don't they look adorable. I hope they both had a brilliant time! We have prom up here, but I know that in the States prom and dances are a much bigger thing.
ReplyDeleteEmma's BFF totally has the Hermione dress! Tell her I say she's awesome. (I assume she knows what she's wearing. Haha!)
Haha! At least you have a life goal with Great Expectations. Even if it takes you forever, you'll feel very accomplished when you get it done.
Happy reading!

Lovely pics, I hope Emma and Paul had a good time and you're still sane.:)
ReplyDeleteI have the Batter book too and looking forward to reading it.
I read Great Expectations in high school but all I remember is that it was long and boring. I hope you like it.
I love Stalker and hope it does get renewed....but if I love a show, it often leaves...LOL.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I love The Good Wife and it is still on....
Great prom shots! Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Have a great week!
Great photos...hope they had fun!!! I forgot all about The Spring Bake-Off - will have to see if it's On-Demand. I watched the Christmas Baking one and enjoyed it - I'm a big baker and love watching shows like that!
ReplyDeleteA Batter of Life & Death sounds good - will have to look into that series!
Have a great week!!!
I'll be checking out several of your new books. They sound fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good looking group picture. I hope they had fun and didn't keep you p all night. LOL Been there:)

Pretty prom pictures. I remember those days with my daughter. It's been a while now though. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about Browsings.
I remember those prom days! Fun, but a little nerve wracking as a parent. Nice photos of the kids. I haven't read Hyperbole, but have been meaning to. She lives in the the town I grew up in so that's always kind of interesting. I hope you have a great week and that prom went well!
ReplyDeleteI always like to read about prom nights though for parents its a bit nerve wracking (I think). We don't have anything like this here.
ReplyDeleteI hope all went well for prom night and now you get a good nights rest.
ReplyDeleteOh they look lovely! It's been (gack) 15 years since mine? Hope they had a great night.
ReplyDeleteLovely!! I think her friend is also wearing the Hermione dress from Goblet of Fire :P So awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope all the prom gang got home safe and sound and had a fantastic night. And hope you eventually got some sleep :O They all looked lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI love listening to David Sedaris and always figured I look like a crazy person laughing alone while driving. Lovely prom pics.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous prom photos, hope everything went smoothly! I'm going to check out a couple of the cookbooks you mention and When You Are Engulfed in Flames ... I could do with a good laugh haha
ReplyDeleteSeason finale of Scandal this Friday ... eek! what will I watch then? and Vikings has already finished :(
Have a wonderful week and happy reading!
Gorgeous - well, handsome in Paul's case. I miss things like prom - except all of the expense!
ReplyDeleteMy husband wants me to read Hypberole and a Half. He really liked that one. I couldn't get into the essay collection Sedaris I tried listening to. I'm one of the few who is not a huge fan of his work. :-(
ReplyDeleteI've seen the first two seasons of The Following. It's usually a show I catch on Netflix after it's been released. I really liked the first season--although I found it painful to watch at times. I wasn't as taken with the second season and so am not sure I'll be watching the third.
I love the prom photos! I am glad it went well for all. :-)
I hope you are having a great week, Katherine!
Beautiful!!! Hope they had a great time. :)
