Today I'm participating in 3 linkups! The first is the Book Blogger Hop hosted by the Coffee Addicted Writer. Today's question is:
When you view someone's profile what information do you like to see?
I've never really thought about it before but I always check the About Me section or the Blogger profile when I start to follow a new blog. I like to see where people live. Partly due to book availability. I follow several blogs that are in the UK and sometimes they'll be raving about a particular book that unfortunately isn't available in the US. If I know where they are I can be prepared. I also like to see other interests or favorite genres so I know how well are tastes line up. If I'm looking at a Blogger profile I want to be able to easily figure out which blog is the active one. I've been to profiles that have about 9 blogs listed but none as the actual website.

Here's the beginning:
"Careful!" I said. All right, shouted. "We can't afford to drop this."
It wasn't so much that the sheet of wallboard Maxie, Paul and I were holding up was so expensive it couldn't be replaced; it was more that hauling another heavy sheet up here in the attic of my massive Victorian home and guesthouse would be enormously difficult."
And from page 56:
"I haven't found out much yet," I told my client. "Big Bob was dead almost two years, and nobody ever even reported him missing to the cops." I let the question go unasked.
So what do you think? Would you keep reading? I didn't find either of these excerpts particularly grabbing but I've enjoyed the first 2 books in the series so I'm looking forward to reading more of it.
Oh, this one does sound good...I love cozy mysteries and the excerpts give us a hint at what is to come.

I've really enjoyed this series so far though I'm not too far into this one. It's definitely worth trying if you enjoy a cozy.

This is definitely a unique series. I really loved the first one especially. If you're looking for a new cozy this might be a fun one to pick up!
DeleteI tend to not really look at the profiles because I tend to follow based on the style of the blog etc. I love Victorian homes and I might pick up this book just for that. Also, Big Bob sounds like a maffia name! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

I'm kind of curious about the whole Big Bob thing as well. I haven't gotten that far in the story to find out the details yet. It is set on the Jersey Shore so the mafia is always a possibility! I love Victorian homes or really any home restoration type subplot as well.

I love a home renovation subplot too! Can't think how many books I've read based solely on that! I'm very curious about the Big Bob issue but I haven't had much time to read more of the book. Looking forward to it though!

ReplyDeleteThe Victorian house always hooks me too. If it helps the ghosts are completely non-scary. Actually Paul and Maxie from the intro are both ghosts.

ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty unique cozy series. Definitely agree about the blogger name. I hadn't really thought about it but I definitely prefer to have an actual name versus just the blog name.

Why didn't anyone report Big Bob missing? That is what I want to know and I suppose is part of the mystery.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I look for is the website link in their blogger profile so I can pop over, without that you start to play detective and even then there is no guarantees. Hope i'm one of the UK blogs you follow lol xx
