I agree that it's a bit more "sweetsy" than The Secret Garden, but as an only child with a lot of cousins, I could certainly relate to Rose! As I got older, I started to prefer A Rose in Bloom, in part because of the romance and a bit more character development. But I still enjoy them Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08639732368395025578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128730358349082407.post-49218070597851730412015-04-17T07:50:48.944-05:002015-04-17T07:50:48.944-05:00I have sentimental memories of this book. Speaking if ckassics, I recently listened to Jane Eyre as an audiobook and was quite impressed that it had held my interest as a 14 year old, and and that I read it again at 16! I would love to see you do a review of Little Women. :)La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128730358349082407.post-58167311645668211922015-04-16T22:32:56.482-05:002015-04-16T22:32:56.482-05:00Oh we should! I suspect that my reaction might be the same, but I just may try it this summer. I went and pulled my copy off the shelf to see if my mother or I had noted when I got it and my Mom had written inside, To Kay, Christmas 1968. This is one (along with Rose in Bloom) that I haven't reread in adulthood, so I am eager to see how it stands up to my childhood memories of it.
