Friday Fives - December Reads

I'm taking a bit of a break from my usual Friday Linkups to try something a little different.  Michelle over at Because Reading is Better Than Real Life   used to do a Five on Fridays that I always enjoyed and I've seen a few other variations on the theme.  As well I'm in a list making kind of mood so I thought I'd give start making random five lists.  Sometimes they'll be bookish other weeks not so much. Since it's the first Friday in December I'm looking at 5 books I want to read in December.

1.  The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden - This just seems like the perfect wintery story and I love the fairy tale feel of the blurb.

2.  Heart of Evil by Heather Graham - This isn't Christmas-y or wintery at all but it does take place in Louisiana and as I've mentioned a few times I'm spending most of December in Louisiana it seemed like a fun time to pick this one up.  This is also the 2nd book in the Krewe of Hunter series and I'm trying to read the earlier books since I've enjoyed the recent books so much.

3.  Rest Ye Murdered Gentleman by Vicki Delany - This has been on every vaguely Christmasy TBR since it came out so this is hopefully the year I actually read it!

4.  Trading Christmas by Debbie Macomber - This is one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies and I've been wanting to read a Debbie Macomber Christmas book so this seemed like a good one to go with.

5.  Christmas with Anne by L.M. Montgomery - I have read this collection of holiday short stories so many times.  The stories are a little sweet and trite but they're so comforting and festive and happy that I never get tired of them.  I don't think I reread it last year so I think rereading it this year sounds perfect!

What are you hoping to read this December?

  1. I'm vainly trying to reach my Goodreads target but I may need to lower it by ten to do so as I just seem so busy with other stuff right now!

  4. I hope you're able to enjoy & read these titles this December. I haven't read any of these titles myself, but I have my eye on the Katherine Arden series for next winter.
