I loved the retelling of Alice called Splintered, by AG Howard. I may or may not try this one. Like someone above said, Wicked was hard to get through, so not sure if this will be any easier. Great review though!Lisa Mandinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02691593776280004137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128730358349082407.post-70779160294136328182015-11-10T18:45:23.085-06:002015-11-10T18:45:23.085-06:00That was my problem with one of my favorite Alice ...That was my problem with one of my favorite Alice in Wonderland retelling series. The second book in the trilogy spent way to much time in the real world. If this shows up as an ebook special, I will grab it, but I am not into fairytales taking place in reality settings. I loved Wicked, but that story stayed in Oz. :)La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128730358349082407.post-64215568675622475912015-11-10T14:32:49.184-06:002015-11-10T14:32:49.184-06:00I tried to read Wicked once and it was very unusua...I tried to read Wicked once and it was very unusual to me. I likened Maguire to a Tim Burton in writing. Props to him for trying to tackle Alice and the world of Wonderland which was already complicated within itself.Stefaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09081916135477167930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128730358349082407.post-67076616896892963392015-11-10T09:29:44.211-06:002015-11-10T09:29:44.211-06:00I read Wicked by Gregory Maguire years ago and rea...I read Wicked by Gregory Maguire years ago and really liked it. I meant to read more by him, but lost interest somewhere along the way. I admit to being really curious about this book. Alice in Wonderland has never really been a favorite of mine, at least not until recently. I can't recall if I've ever read the book. I like the idea of seeing Wonderland through Ada and Alice's different personalities and perspectives, but other than that I'm not sure I'd enjoy this book.Beahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17455117466213636141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5128730358349082407.post-55090363257187010842015-11-10T07:34:24.877-06:002015-11-10T07:34:24.877-06:00I didn't really like the Tim Burton movie, for...I didn't really like the Tim Burton movie, for once. I thought the Madhatter wasn't mad enough, you're right, and I was disappointed that Alice ended up acting as a grownup at the end, I wanted more fantasy, more nonsense... I'm glad you loved that book !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
